Makeup and Benefits Adhesive System  Belbien's pressure sensitive adhesive system reaches maximum bond strength within 8-12 hours after the application.  The adhesive system is quite different than conventional wallcovering adhesive.  Belbien's adhesive will not promote the growth of mildew.  This makes Belbien perfect for resurfacing non-porous substrates such as high pressure laminates, steel, aluminum, melamine, and other similar surfaces.    Weight  Belbien weighs less than most decorative surfacing materials including Type I commercial vinyl wallcovering.  If weight is a factor such as on cruise ships, trade show exhibits, elevator cabs, and movable partitions---Belbien is the answer!    Thickness  Since Belbien's thickness is only .006" (0.15mm), it can be applied to such projects as elevator doors, store fixtures and doors without affecting the operation of moving parts.    Fire and Smoke Ratings  Belbien received a "Class A" fire and smoke development rating as tested by UL (Underwriter's Laboratories, Inc.).  These ratings are tested in accordance with UL-723 and ASTM E-84 standards.  This quality makes Belbien the perfect solution for renovating elevator cabs and other public areas where fire and smoke development ratings are very important and required.    Impact Resistance  Belbien assumes the impact properties of the substrate to which it is applied.  Caution: Belbien is not recommended for drywall or other soft, porous surfaces because of extensive preparation requirements and poor impact resistance.    Width and Length  Belbien's width and length are helpful when installing projects such as tall columns, long reception counter facades and high wall panels because minimal or no seams are required.    Flexibility  Belbien can be easily applied to curved objects such as round columns, concave and convex shapes.  It will conform easily around 90 degree corners such as on store fixtures or wall panels.    Durability  Belbien's abrasion resistance is tested at 5,000 cycles by the T-bar Abrasion Test using abrasive wheels (grade CS-17). This feature makes Belbien perfect for most all vertical surfaces.  Caution: The local distributor or manufacturer should be consulted prior to installing Belbien on any horizontal surface.    Stain Resistance  Belbien is highly resistant to such stains as: blood, urine, liquor, bleach, iodine, ammonia, salt spray, luggage scuff marks, restaurant condiments, and many others.    Exterior Applications  Belbien EX can be applied to steel and metal surfaces on the exterior of building structures.  The surface must be smooth and solid. Belbien EX exhibits an anti-corrosive film layer that makes it resistant to direct UV sunlight, rain, snow, ice, smog and other perils of nature.  Belbien EX is oftentimes specified for interior applications where extra durability is demanded for stains such as permanent markers, and lacquer fingernail polish.  It is also specified for areas which may be exposed to strong solvents such as:  Toluene, Methyl Ethyl Ketone, Ethyl Acetate, and Acetone.    Easy Reparability  Belbien can be repaired easily when installed on a smooth, solid non-porous substrate.  Oftentimes, a small damaged area can be patched, or an entire strip can be removed and restored with a new one.  Belbien can also be installed over itself with proper preparation.    Minimal Down Time  Installations are clean and simple with little or no inconvenience to customers.  Belbien is the perfect solution for renovating existing projects especially in shopping malls, banks, hospitals, elevator cabs, theme parks, casinos, etc.  Belbien can be installed during regular business or off-peak hours.    Conformability  Belbien's interior and exterior series may be stretched and conformed to selected three dimensional projects.  These types of applications are very intricate and time consuming.  They require the skills of an advanced and experienced Belbien installer.  The degree of difficulty and the percentage of stretching will determine the ultimate applications using this feature.  Caution:  The HS Series cannot be applied to three dimensional objects because it contains a metal layer which prohibits it from being stretched.    Graphic Capability  Customized graphic designs are made possible by utilizing computer design and cutting technology.  This feature permits clients to create custom logos and other designs for specialized applications such as elevator doors, reception desk facades, wall panels, etc.    Custom Patterns & Colors  The manufacturer has the capability to develop unique patterns and/or colors for custom projects.  A minimum purchase order is necessary for this benefit because of the production requirements.
